The Long Walk is a dystopian horror novel by American writer Stephen King, published in 1979, under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. It was collected in 1985 in the hardcover omnibus The Bachman Books, and has seen several reprints since, as both paperback and hardback.

Set in a future dystopian America, ruled by a totalitarian and militaristic dictator, the plot revolves around the contestants of a grueling, annual walking contest. In 2000, the American Library Association listed The Long Walk as one of the 100 best books for teenage readers published between 1966 and 2000.

Even though this is my first book I have ever read by Mr. King I feel his reputation proceeds him with his troupes because this one had them all.

Kingisms aside I will say over all this story was pretty solid. They trhow a lot of names at yeah but there is really only a few characters that mater with some interesting side characters that show up from time to time.

I will say what kept me going was trying to milk any info I could from the pages to learn what I could about this world. They don't give you a lot but when they do it really makes you that nk and try to puzzle out the current world and how it got to this situation. The story does not give you any full concereat answers so you will have to fill in the gaps your self.
