Nineteen Eighty-Four: A Novel, often referred to as 1984, is a dystopian social science fiction novel by the English novelist George Orwell (the pen name of Eric Arthur Blair). It was published on 8 June 1949 by Secker & Warburg as Orwell's ninth and final book completed in his lifetime. Thematically, Nineteen Eighty-Four centres on the consequences of totalitarianism, mass surveillance, and repressive regimentation of persons and behaviours within society. Orwell, himself a democratic socialist, modelled the authoritarian government in the novel after Stalinist Russia. More broadly, the novel examines the role of truth and facts within politics and the ways in which they are manipulated.

Il y a 75 ans paraissait ce roman visionnaire.
Malheureusement⊠Car Ă sa lecture, on se rend bien compte du caractĂšre prophĂ©tique de ce quâil annonce et que lâon retrouve se mettre en place progressivement dans le monde rĂ©el dâaujourdâhui.
Surveillance de masse, bien sĂ»r. Mais aussi censure de la pensĂ©e, contrĂŽle et appauvrissement de la langue, peur de la dĂ©lation encouragĂ©e, mensonges dâĂtat, falsification et réécriture de lâHistoire, nĂ©cessitĂ© dâoccuper les populations en crĂ©ant des guerres et un ennemi imaginaire commun⊠Une machine totalitaire parfaite.
Certes, il existe quelques diffĂ©rences avec notre monde et certains dĂ©tails, quâils soient technologiques ou sur des points particuliers. Mais lâacuitĂ© de cette vision et la vitesse avec laquelle on sây enfonce, sans finalement broncher ou mĂȘme s'en rendre compte, sont effrayantes.
